Shoot Day is Near!
Outdoor photography sessions offer a unique opportunity to capture stunning images amidst the beauty of nature. Whether you're planning a family photoshoot, engagement session, or personal portrait, proper preparation is key to ensuring a successful and enjoyable experience. In this article, we will provide you with essential tips and considerations for preparing for your outdoor session. From what to bring to the shoot to the importance of choosing the right photographer, we'll explore the key factors to help you create photos you'll treasure for a lifetime. To ensure a smooth and comfortable outdoor session, it's important to pack the essentials. Here are some tips to help you prepare
What to Bring to Your Outdoor Session:
Snacks and Water:
Pack some light snacks and water to keep you energized and hydrated throughout the session, especially during longer shoots. Nobody wants to get hangry mid session so I always love to have clean and easy snacks available for hangry kids and adults!
Spare Comfortable Shoes for Walking:
Opt for comfortable footwear that allows you to explore different locations without discomfort. Consider bringing an extra pair for walking on uneven terrain. We do some walking during our session to change scenery. Depending on your chosen location, bring appropriate shoes for the walk. Feel free to bring a bag with any shoes you'd like on during your session to save some pain and keep them clean!
Props:
Add a personal touch to your photos by bringing props that reflect your personality or the theme of the shoot. Consider items such as blankets, hats, flowers, or sentimental objects. Anything can be a prop so don't overthink it! Take a look around your home and bring anything from a favorite toy, an item from a hobby you're learning, some wine glasses and a bottle, a picnic basket, JUST HAVE SOME FUN! We can always skip a prop but we can't go back home if we forgot them.
Clothing:
Iron or steam any clothes you plan to wear to maintain a polished look. With professional cameras you can see all of the wrinkles in clothing. Make the process easier by preparing all outfits and making sure they are all photo ready! Feel free to bring spare outfits that compliment the location and weather, providing variety for different scenes or moods. Out in the fall leaves? Bring a cute cozy cardigan and a blanket to sit on! Summer sun's out? Bring a hat and some shades to add some style! Again, don't over think this one either!
Touch ups and Makeup:
Pack spare makeup, brushes, and anything else for touchups, ensuring you maintain your desired look throughout the shoot. Do final hair checks, makeup checks, and pack a little bag with anything you may need to touch up! Remember to moisturize your skin before the session to achieve a healthy glow and prevent any dryness on skin.
